  • Evaluating profit & loss/income statements in the shop
  • Customer handling skills for the 21st century repair shop
  • Understanding and motivating the most important person in your business (not you)
  • Why higher labor rates are not the solution to higher profits
  • Maximizing your facility and handling work flow – Proven strategies that work!
  • Achieving gross sales targets, a realistic approach that works!
  • Strategies to get your production staff to produce
  • More cars? We don’t need no mo’ stinkin’ cars (higher car count ain’t it!)
  • Why pricing isn’t as important to your customers as you may think
  • Too much to list – if you only take one thing back to your shop, it’s worth it!
  • Regulatory compliance – a boring topic we can make fun of! (& learn from)

  • "Business 101" provides an introduction to the essential tools needed for success. A fictitious shop named "Bob's Garage" is used as a model throughout the course. Bob's current conditions, financials, and goals are introduced and analyzed. The Profit & Loss statement is reviewed. Then the student is taught increasingly more complex financials showing various profit centers such as Labor, Parts, Sublet, Shop Supplies, etc. Many different strategies for success are introduced, such as increasing sales, decreasing expenses, managing the Gross Profit Margin, Technician Productivity, Service Writer management, etc. The pros and cons of each strategy are reviewed from a financial perspective. A comprehensive step-by-step plan of action is shown for Bob to achieve higher profits with less headache, while retaining both customer & employee loyalty.

After attending this highly interactive and engaging class, the student will be able to: define his financial goals & develop the correct plan of action to attain them; correctly form his business; Understand what the financials are telling him & know how to make needed adjustments; hire, motivate, & retain staff; Apply marketing strategies to his existing and potential customer base; Do all this, while staying out of trouble with regulatory compliance & law.

Types of learning support and materials which will be provided include a 208+ page workbook, as well as a Profit & Loss business calculator; Use of lecture, worksheets, examples, Power Point presentations, audio tape, DVD and overhead transparencies, etc.
